Initial launch of site. Appears to run without much problem. Many files to add to make site a multimedia experience and actually useful to somebody.

SSH attacker took down the server. No /var/www/html/lhcoc files lost. RedHat 9 was reinstalled/configured for server applications. Password Generator implemented for secure passwords.

SSH floods at night, but no entries. Appears to have 'closed the gate'. Closed some additional ports on router.

Getting comments from distant members; very postive.

Began using a program called PDF995 to create PDF files instead of ASCII/HTML text files for Bulletins. Will also use for Bible Studies and and various text documents. It is entirely possible to archive via PDF format everything that can be printed. This allows even those who do not have the programs that the files were created on to open them using a free utility [Adobe Acrobat Reader].

First major editing of link hierarchy (for efficiency/less redundancy).

Also, removed the link to calendars.htm, deleted /images/bar4.gif and /images/bar4b.gif in favor of a different and interactive calendar format.

Problems with Dial-Up speed and the time it takes to load the website caused me to decrease the number/size (Kb) of images/scripts/etc.

Great Improvement, nearly a 4 second decrease in download time for 56k dial-up users. Would like to decrease to 15 seconds or less. Consider a different Rollover script for the side menu bar. Consider a 'Links' or 'Online Resources' [have to think about that one] page instead of the right-side menu. Or at least remove some of the clutter on the right menu [also would improve download time].

Issue to Fix: Getting a large number of error messages in Apache log file for file /images/bar4.gif and /images/bar4b.gif. Images used to be linked to calendars.htm, but were deleted in favor of a different calendar. So, there should be no reference in the code to this image. Check the pre-download image script instead.

Decided to redirect 'Calendars'. Instead of going to http://my.calendars.net/lhcoc directly, the site will now go to http://calendars.lhcoc.com (a DNS entry at zoneedit.com) and be redirected to the former site listed. With cloaking enabled, no one will realize they have left the lhcoc.com site (unless they watch the status bar close enough).

Experimenting with CSS image rollovers instead of Javascript rollovers. This will dramatically decrease the number of HTTP requests to the server, therefore decreasing the high latency that many of the dial-up users are experiencing.

Congregation of 100 to 115 seeking full-time minister. Though currently without elders, we are a fully functioning local church with individual and collective works being managed on an on-going basis. Interested individuals will be competent in regular pulpit preaching as well as actively pursuing new converts by way of home Bible studies.
