Benevolence
Where there is a need, it must be filled.
The men who oversee the Benevolence work at Little Hocking are Bob
Swain and Denver Collins.
Teen Work Day
Similar to the MOV Work Camp, but local to our area. Our
teens put their young bodies and good health to use and work for
those in our congregation and surrounding community who are elderly
or otherwise unable, financially or physically, to work on their
own. Barry
Hennen, Jeff
Hennen, and Myla Lee are the crew leaders for 2005.
Food Pantry
A fully stocked pantry in provided to the community and
congregation, or for those in need. It is often necessary to deliver
food to a family or individually because they have nothing. The
benevolence work on the food pantry is overseen by Denver Collins
with additional help from Sandra Collins.
Clothing 'Give-Away'
'Give-Away?', you ask. How can we just give away clothes when our
building needs new carpet, maybe a new coat of paint inside, fancy
chairs for our comfort, and many other wants. But those
things are vain. There are many who struggle to meet the basic needs
of their families in our community and congregation and the Clothing
'Give-Away' has a major impact on their lives. Any leftover clothing
will be distributed to local retirement homes, not to the Salvation
Army to be sold.
Most of the food and clothing are provided by our congregation.
Other donations are gladly accepted. There are those who have been
helped in the past by the benevolence work at Little Hocking who
now volunteer their own donations ! Those who receive these gifts
do not forget !
